Moveable Feast – at Barrowford’s Pendle Heritage Centre, begins today 10 January and runs till 1 March 2015 on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays 11am – 3.30pm
Moveable Feast includes figurative and abstract paintings, original prints, drawings, sculpture and ceramics by artists who have exhibited at Gavagan Art, Settle, North Yorkshire. Mary Gavagan was previously director of Lancaster University art gallery for twenty years.
Artists from Lancashire and Yorkshire include : Frank Gordon, David Knight, Jacquie Denby, Heather Cook, David Cook, Sam Dalby, Roy Hubbard, Chris Rigby, Milan Ivanic, Derek Setford, Anna Lambert, David Thomas, Marjan Wouda, Paul Mason, Katharine Holmes, Donald Fenton and Patricia Knowles. There is a display of work by the Royal Academician Albert Irvin OBE.

There is also a rare opportunity to see, ‘Johanna’ (illustrated above left) by James Hargreaves Morton (1891 – 1918), the celebrated East Lancashire painter. ‘Johanna’ was first exhibited at the International Society of Sculptors, Painters and Gravers exhibition, London in 1915. David Ward writing in The Guardian in 2005 commented that the painting was a ‘haunting picture… a sad-eyed Belgian refugee in a green coat’.
