Golden Balls, Batchelors ’ Buttons and Naked Ladies

Anne Eves gave us a talk on plants and gardens which she finds inspires her the ‘would be gardener’ to successfully create her perfect garden’. Anne drew her inspiration from many sources including gardens from all around the uk. Plants themselves inspired Anne, from the early in the season Snowdrops through to the autumn tints and winter.

Blackburn hosts the World’s Oldest Conductor

King_Georges_Hall_-_geograph.org.uk_-_454936 There wasn’t a lot of time after Friday’s Gardening Group to get back home, have tea and find our way to Blackburn for the evening Hallé concert. I like King George’s Hall. It’s is big classical edifice and a much friendlier place than the Hallé’s own Bridgewater Hall. For those into architecture, it was designed by Briggs and Wolstenholme, Blackburn architects responsible for some excellent buildings. Committee Meeting

The Exec. Committee Meeting had its first meeting of the year in the Friends Room at the Heritage Centre on Tuesday 13th January. A long agenda kept us busy – we had to be escorted out of the building long after closing time! No time for a cup of tea!

Moveable Feast – Art Exhibition

Moveable Feast –  at Barrowford’s Pendle Heritage Centre, begins today 10 January and runs till 1 March 2015 on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays 11am – 3.30pm

Moveable Feast includes figurative and abstract paintings, original prints, drawings, sculpture and ceramics by artists who have exhibited at Gavagan Art, Settle, North Yorkshire.  Mary Gavagan was previously director of Lancaster University art gallery for twenty years.
